Understanding BESS performance requires more than reviewing individual measurements. Asset managers need to assess how batteries are being used, identify potential performance issues, and validate financial results across different market requirements.
In October, we expanded the Cellect Platform's analytical and reporting capabilities. New calculated metrics help assess battery cycling and efficiency, additional aggregation options simplify operational analysis, and financial reporting improvements support more accurate revenue reporting and reconciliation.
What changed
Full equivalent cycles (FEC) and round-trip efficiency (RTE) are now calculated and visualized as time-series metrics alongside operational telemetry.
Users can select the analysis period, inspect the formulas behind each metric, and export calculated values together with operational measurements at the same granularity.
What this enables
Asset managers can:
Monitor battery usage against expectations: Track cycling activity over time to identify periods of intensive use and assess potential deviations from expected cycling limits.
Identify potential efficiency issues: Examine round-trip efficiency trends to detect unexpected changes that may indicate technical underperformance.
Investigate deviations in context: Compare calculated metrics with operational measurements from the same periods to explore possible contributing factors.
Support performance reporting: Export cycling, efficiency, and operational data together for further analysis and documentation.
For example, rather than reviewing only the total equivalent cycles accumulated over several months, asset managers can examine monthly cycling activity to identify periods of particularly intensive use.
This provides greater visibility into how batteries are being operated and helps teams identify potential performance and usage risks that require closer attention.
What changed
A new spread aggregation calculates the difference between the maximum and minimum values of a measurement within a selected time interval.
This allows users to analyze the range of operational measurements directly within the platform, alongside other telemetry.
What this enables
Asset managers can:
Understand operating ranges: Examine how widely measurements vary within selected intervals.
Compare operating patterns: Identify differences between periods that may warrant closer analysis.
Avoid manual calculations: Calculate measurement ranges without exporting data and applying formulas in spreadsheets.
For example, SOC spread can provide context for depth-of-discharge analysis, while temperature spread can help examine variations in operating conditions. The same calculation can be applied to other relevant measurements.
This makes it easier to explore operational data and investigate unusual patterns without additional data processing.
What changed
Financial and dispatch data can now be exported directly through the browser, with filenames identifying the site, selected timeframe, and time zone.
Revenue and volume reporting through the Partner API has also been expanded to support:
3-hour and 5-hour intervals for FCR, aFRR, and mFRR, alongside the existing 4-hour interval.
15-minute settlement intervals for Day Ahead Auction revenues and volumes.
Improved display of data across different time zones.
What this enables
Asset managers and commercial teams can:
Simplify reconciliation: Export financial and dispatch data for review, validation, and sharing.
Support more granular reporting: Work with Day Ahead Auction revenues and volumes submitted at 15-minute settlement intervals.
Maintain reporting consistency: Accommodate the shorter and longer intervals associated with daylight-saving time changes.
Validate commercial results: Review revenue information using data that reflects the relevant market reporting requirements.
These improvements help teams prepare financial reports more efficiently and work with revenue data that better reflects different settlement and reporting conditions.
October's improvements expand the analytical capabilities available to battery asset managers.
By making cycling and efficiency trends easier to assess against expectations, bringing additional calculations into operational analysis, and supporting more flexible financial reporting, the Cellect Platform helps teams work with the information needed to evaluate technical and commercial performance.
The result is less reliance on separate calculations and reporting workflows, with more operational context available in one place.
We'll continue developing the Cellect Platform to support the evolving needs of BESS portfolio management, with a focus on connecting operational data, performance analysis, and the workflows asset managers rely on.
Our goal is to help battery owners and operators manage growing portfolios with consistent information and the tools needed to understand performance and protect asset value.
